Giday peple, I own a 2013 Triumph Bonny se .... between 90 -120 kph , there is an annoying vibration that comes and goes in about 5 second intervals, the only thing I can think of is the chain , because I wanted to lower the revs I fitted a 3 tooth smaller sprocket on the back ( which meant I had to shorten the chain ) found out carnt get pin split links anymore so had to get a link that fitted the holes of original chain then grind and bur the ends of the link over, now it wasnt long after this I noticed the vibration, could the problem be the chain or could I have got a falty sprocket ?

    Welcome Stephen.
From your description it certainly sounds like the chain is causing your problem.
Is the sprocket you’ve fitted the correct pitch for the chain? How many miles has the chain done? Was it an endless chain originally?
Personally I would have replaced the chain and both sprockets together unless they were fairly new, especially if the correct link wasn’t available.

You could have nipped up the rivet link a smidgen too tight - effectively seizing the link. I would start there and check it easily articulates or it will come off the sprocket (gearbox especially) looking to snap straight.

While i would agree it likely to be the chain IMO a five second frequency at the sort of speed says to me its not the chain.

I wouldn’t trust that link first i would get a shorter chain you should put new chain with a new sprocket If its still vibrating after that at least you know the chain wont fly apart
