Hi guys (and girls) , potential newbie here from not so sunny Blackpool.

I say potential because atm I'm riding a modded 2010 yam FZ1 s and fancy a change to a speed triple 1050 (also got a Thundercat for the commute to work). I had a tuned up tiger 1050 a couple of years ago and loved that engine!

Only thing is I've never ridden one. Any speedy owner near me that'll let me have a go on theirs to see if I like it??

Hi and welcome to the forum. I had a 2012 1050 Speed Triple until recently, loved the bike but a dodgy knee was giving me too much grief riding it. The FZ 1 is a powerful engine but only gets into its stride higher in the rev range where the 1050 Triple just pushes on from about 3K right up to the red line. Mine would easily lift the front off the throttle in first and second, was a great fun bike and was disappointed to have to part with mine..

Why not just pop down to your local Triumph dealer and get a go on a new demo...... you don't have to buy from them.

You will need to have passed your test 2 years, not have too many points and be willing to give them around £1000 if you total their bike

I tried a tiger 1050 from Blackburn Triumph a few years ago, and I nearly soiled myself when they wanted £1k off me as a deposit!!! It's not an experience I'll be repeating in a hurry.

The FZ1 is a massively powerful bike, mines running about 155bhp with all the mods, and puts out from about 4k to 12k. I just fancy a change though, and its either the speedy, or a KTM. As I'm not really a twin man, and have previous of what the Hinckley triple can produce with a bit of tinkering, my money's on the triumph. Albeit a 06-08 plate, but I'm sure it'll be a cracking bike.
