    Hello,

Does anyone have a black plate on a new bike? I know they are not legal (neither are slightly smaller plates). Don't they attract too much attention, or are the Police generally OK with them?

Probably depends on local police I have a mate with a black plate on old style Triumph he rides in Cheshire and also recently IoM without any issues. Worst case is a 30 quid (maybe it's gone up a bit) fine

100 quid ! well it was a few years ago I was threatened with 30 quid fine for illegal plate
    it was excessively small though..

I have been stopped by police (without any charge) with a 7 x 5 plate and they never mentioned it.

I reckon go for it !

I probably won't get a black, will probably just get a slightly smaller one instead (has to be worth at least 1HP). Just curious more than anything..

Black plate is just asking to get pulled. Slightly smaller, not easy to instantly recognise, so you'll probably get away with it.

Personally, never felt the need to alter anything. We have to run with one on, same as every other vehicle on the roads.

If we got away with it, think what the scum would get up to!

True. I had a slightly smaller one for years without any issues, and it just looked nicer. Definitely vain though, I accept that :)

Fourdot make nice plates that are down to the legal minimum in terms of dimensions. Beautifully finished although not cheap.

According to MCN police in Wales are having a purge on illegal number plates and exhaust because of the rising death toll on their roads. Not sure how a small number plate made anyone less safe but hey ho.
So if you're heading that way stick your legal one back on.....
Or avoid the area, which is probably their plan on how to reduce their accident statistics.
