Just had a ride out to my local friendly Triumph dealer to take a look at the Speed Twin. So he gives me the keys and says there you go take it out for a spin.
I just have to say wow. That Thruxton engine is awesome and fast, the Brembo brakes fantastic and the handling was superb. The tyres on the bike were Diablo Rosso’s which are far superior to the Pirelli Phantoms on my T120. Also the fueling was much better. The suspension was quite hard but sporty.

Now my T120 only has 1300kms on the clock, which is nothing and the engine barely run in, but tempting though it is to change, He said he’d take my bike plus 3000 Euros, which I think is a fair offer, but I can’t really justify swapping. I might swap out the tyres though as those phantoms are just terrible.

If he’d have said 2000 I might’ve been tempted but when he said 3000 my eye started twitching and my right leg started to shake. It must be the Yorkshire blood.

Not only spending that amount or even thinking about it is likely to get your Yorkshire passport confiscated

I know Dave. I’m treading on thin ice there. ;)

Even though my T120 looks lovely, my VStrom handles and rides much better and is far more enjoyable to ride.

Don’t remind me. I must’ve been thinking about the hotel bill in Germany last year as the reason why I fell off. It couldn’t have been anything else

It’s been quoted on here before but rumour has it that copper wire was invented by two Yorkshiremen fighting over a ha’penny.

Nikki, change the Phantoms for anything and it will transform the bike for the better. Then decide.

Good question Andy. Certainly the engine is far superior to mine and much more fun, but the VStrom, is always my go to bike. I’m not in love with the T120 as it is now, which is why the mileage is so low. I may invest in different tyres as the bike just will not steer with those awful Phantoms. Or I may just get rid of the Bonnie and just keep the Suzuki
