I need to purchase a new battery for my 1999 Tiger 885i that, as far as I'm aware, has/had a Yuasa YTX14-BS fitted as standard. I only use the bike for a couple of short hops every week and was wondering if there had been any significant shift in battery design since the end of the twentieth century that could offer an alternative to the one that the bike came with.
I'm wondering if gel batteries need less interaction with an alternator to keep them topped up?

motobatt are gel type batteries that have great reviews in all the forums I use.they have a big kick and most people find starts much easier . Do a search on ebay , mine for my sprint was about 45 quid 18 months ago. Bad batteries take out the starter sprag and that is expensive.
