My Adventurer is backfiring and sometimes not running smooth, has had new plugs and was wondering if it could be something yo do with the ignition coils..can anyone help?...Thank You
Could be an issue with the carbs (check for leakages as well as for cracks in the inlet rubbers) Might also be worthwhile checking the valve clearances as they do close up after time. Cheers Steve
One of the plugs might only be firing intermittently if there was no problem before the change so you get a build up of fuel in the system before a sporadic ignition = big bang. If it is the carbs it'll be float needle seal or seals, remove the carbs from the motor and look for one of the intakes being 'damp', thats the carb with the seal gone. H
Hi Shona, As SteveJ says could be the carbs - worth checking the condition of the inlet rubbers and the tightness of the clips. Had a similar problem on the Bonnie, as two were loose and letting air in. Run the bike and spray WD40 around the join - if idle speed increase it's leaking. Good luck! Steve
