Just to let all and sundry know that Sceptic Al's Speedie is alive and throbbing again. Many thanks to all of you out there who came up with suggestions, fixes and other general help and ideas as to why it didn't work and places where I could get the necessary bits.
The problem, a frazzled ingniter unit, (a T1292370 for my model) the solution a new one from Fowlers, not cheap but worth it.
I have drawn up a 'map' of the 18 pin connection and included the wiring colours, the linked circuits and, which pins are blanked off, I'll post on here sometime this week for info just in case someone has similar problems.

Naaw, when I phoned they weren't convincing me to get one, maybe it was the guy I spoke to being in pre-Crimbo mode or he wasn't too sure so I thought 'go for the real bit'. Hey ho it's only money. the real bugger is that I still don't know what caused it to fail, maybe it just 'did'. Any how all done and dusted now.

As promised, now that my Speedie is up and bruming after a some head scratching and a new ignitor unit here is the 'map' of the 18 pin main connector for the T1292370 unit with the wiring colours etc.
Also, I'm going to do a bit of a post mortem on the knackered ignitor now the problem is fixed and will put it o here along with the full story so if any one gets a similar snag it might be some help.
