It's raining here too !!! But normally it rains during the night and leaves blue skies and 30+° so lovely gentle riding weather.

Yep always. Normally go with one in the jacket pocket. the one in my old Darnese could get a bit sweaty but not in my newer Rukka or Alpinestars.

I have been called out to two bike accidents within the last month, both riders would have been better off if they were wearing armour, I still go cold when i see riders in Shorts and T Shirts. I know when the sun is blistering hot its tempting but Skin V Macadam .... theres only one winner.

Every time. Forcefield for me but anything is better than nothing.

I like the Forcefield ones because they mould to the shape of your back when warm. Very comfy and I don't know I'm wearing it after a few mins

Since my leather jacket "shrunk" 20 years ago and I bought a textile jacket with back protector, shoulder and elbow pads fitted I've not ridden without armour. I've had 3 jackets since then and each one has had armour. I wouldn't ride without it now and I'm not aware of it.

I need to replace my textile jacket soon, and have been looking at the new Knox jackets. Theirs is all separate from the looks of it; so you pick the jacket and then separate armoured vest/jacket type thing and also a thermal type layer if required.......since they seem to supply the armour to a lot of other companies and it's all CE rated (Plus they are British, and their service is exemplary) and on top of that the prices are pretty good, I think worth a look.

Unfortunately finding a stockist is not so easy, so I think my current jacket will have to do until I can have a look at the stand at the NEC in November. But, to answer the actual question; armour yes......now that I have more of an idea having done a few years on a bike pretty much everything I look to buy I aim to be as safe as possible.....I wouldn't even consider a less than 5* Sharp rated helmet for example!

Both my textile jacket (Spada) and leather (IXS) have elbow, shoulder and back armour fitted. The lightweight RS jacket I was wearing at the time of my "off" had the same, but not CE approved, which is why I think I picked up the grazing on my left arm.
Wouldn't ride without it and was so grateful for the hip armour in the trousers, which saved me from any broken bones (I landed on my left side and the bruise was the shape of the armour for 2 weeks).
Just bought Knox armoured shorts - like lycra cycling shorts but with CE armour for hips, thighs and coccyx. Feel very secure wearing these and they even fit under my Kevlar jeans.

Anyone ever tried those fish-net things that off-road riders wear ? You could wear that under yer T-shirt.
