Ok had to treat the bird to some new tyres following it failing the MOT on the rear ( squared off and below 1mm). Front was an advisory but still legal.
So decided to do both at the same time for a matched pair.
So a 120/70/19 and 200/55/17 later, bike passes the MOT :D

Decided to take the bike to Glasgow to visit a friend, lovely sunny dry day to start with. Within 5 - 10 miles get fed up traveling sedately and get up to motorway speed.
Just not in the average speed cameras.
Plenty of grip, no tram lining at all. Soaks up the bumps. Just feels great. Was able to happily do motorway speeds on tyres with less than 35 miles on them.
Coming home the roads to mine have a few tight turns no problems to these tyres, was turning in faster and maintain a higher corner speed.

Only done 2/300 miles on these but definitely a better tyre than OEM.
So for those of us with Birds I would seriously recommend the Avon Cobra for your next change,
Tyre wear is something I cant comment on at present as they are too new
