    Dear members,

I've ordered an auxiliar power socket that was installed by the dealer before I picked up the bike on first day.
Since it's located very close to the engine, and my cell phone or GPS it's on the proper holder kit on the handlebar, how can I connect the device while running the bike, and the engine being so hot, without damage the cable?

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Hélder

    Hi Helder,
Could have wired to a live point that was only live when ignition was on.
But as you have socket fitted just route the wire upwards avoiding the heat as much as possible, tuck it under the tank and fasten with small tie wraps where possible, send it under cable clip on handlebars, you should be fine don't think engine heat will damage cable.

As you're only using it when your on the bike I had mine come up from the connector tucked it into the seat so that was rightish and keeping it away from hot parts and then wrapped excess round petrol cap. Leaving enough slack to turn the bars of course Not perfect but did the job

Thanks both TEZ 217 and crispey.

Nice suggestions You've made. Although, I'll try to avoid dealing with tie wraps, because seems less practical :) . Plug in a cable should be a fast forward procedure, as I think most people would wish :) Can't figure why is it mounted almost in the engine :D

    Regards.

They don't seem very good at locating sockets do they? The USB under the seat is completely useless. Why not put them near or on the bars, where they are needed?

Photo of power socket site in relation to engine would be useful before I comment

This! I need to connect my power lead and have been hunting for a suitable source - a USB on the bars or headlight bezel would be perfect.

It's located on the left side near and under the fake carb.

Could you relocate it to that space above and behind the carb?

Buy an extension cable, cost about £3-5 from a petrol station or stationers. Tie it to the frame with small tie-wraps or insulating tape, to end wherever is convenient. Tape up the junction, to keep water out.

Cost is minimal, time is about 30 mins and it will last until it breaks, at which point you just change it

What a crazy place to locate. Personally I would start again or you could run cable back towards air box, up under tank to bars. That's what I've done with my Thruxton, but you will need to use zip ties to make secure & keep tidy. Engine heat not an issue, mine's fine after 4000 miles
