Hi, I continue to be delighted with my Tiger 800 and have added over 1000 miles to the 300 it had when I got it a few weeks ago.

It is to be my touring bike, so am moving the satnav over and planned to use the power outlet next to the headstock. However, I can't get a reading on the volt meter even with the ignition switched on although I believe it is not a switched supply anyway. I've seen a couple of threads on other forums about this problem, but no real conclusion.

Any suggestions? I don't want to wire the satnav directly to the battery or break into any other switched supply, but just to use what is there. I'll be surprised if there is a fault in such a near-new bike.

    Thanks, Roger.

As far as I'm aware, it's not a switched supply. Tried the fuse?

Is the dashboard socket a cigarette lighter size like in a car? Rather than testing with a meter, have you got anything that you could plug in, to test to see if it is delivering juice. With my GPS it has a light on the plug to show when juice is flowing.

Dave, it's a 3 amp DIN Hella type socket that takes a USB adapter. The same style as a car cigarette lighter but a lot smaller. Mine is live all the time.

Hangs head in shame. Got back to it this afternoon and decided to start at the fuse box (not for one second believing that the 15amp fuse had gone)...

...But it had. Ho-hum. Sorry for wasting your time, guys. I'm hoping the previous owner had over-cooked the fuse with something and I haven't got an intermittent short at the headstock or elsewhere. Time will, I'm sure, tell.

Hi Mr Wolf, yes I know the sort of plug you mean, I had one on my T100. Just wasn't sure what was on the Tiger.

The dashboard plug on Kitten is a cigar lighter one like in a car,so I can plug my std. GPS straight into it. And because it remains permanently 'open' I use it to charge/condition the battery.
