Finding the seat on my Bonnie a bit of a pain in the ar**. Also seat to pegs is a bit tight. Probably having a metal hip doesn't help. I've seen a product called Airhawk which is an air-filled seat pad which fits on top of the existing seat. I was thinking that this may raise seat height slightly, solving both the hard seat issue whilst increasing the seat to pegs distance slightly. Has anyone tried these and if so are they any good? They aren't cheap retailing for around £160 on fleabay, so I would like to find out a bit more before paying out that sort of cash for what appears to be an inflatable cushion.
    Thanks all.

Stuck a Triumph King/Queen seat on my wife's Bonnie.
She found it very comfortable, when we went to the south of France.

Burton Bike Bits..............have an interesting selection of alternative seats, pricey, but look really nice.
I'd put on a link , if I knew how!

£160 does sound a lot for a cushion but I've never had one so it may be worth it. I think I'd be tempted to try one of the places that reshape your own seat as I've heard good reports on some and for not much more money. Maybe someone with one could comment? Good luck with whatever you choose.

£160 sounds a bit expensive to me. I paid £50 for a medical grade gel pad a couple of years ago. Otherwise try getting your existing seat re-padded and made higher. I used Tony Archer in Huddersfield to re-do the seat on my Bandit and it cost about £100. There must be places nearer to you though.

I had an Airhawk on my BMW R850 and transferred it a couple of years later to a Honda CBF1000. It's not just an inflatable cushion, but has separate compartments to spread the load, as it were. You have to be careful not to over-inflate it, as you'll bounce around a lot if you do - just inflate it enough so that when you sit on it, you're just above the actual seat. I found it extremely comfortable, but agree it's expensive. If you do a lot of miles, it's maybe worth investing in one if you don't want to buy another seat. Watch out for punctures though !

Thanks guys for all your responses. I may approach one of the seat specialists or see if the misses would be able to recover and reupholster it. She has done quite a bit of stuff like that and has just finished a complete set of cushions for a VW camper. It cant be that much different can it? Mind you I dont fancy a floral cotton seat!

If you're running the OE shocks, that won't help either, they're stiff little buggars! We put some Hagon shocks on her Bonnie and that also made a big difference to the comfort.

Another thing is if you carry your wallet I. Your back pocket that can cause bum/thigh ache. I do a lot of mileage in my car for work and one of my colleagues developed serious siatica and the docs reckoned it was due to sitting on his wallet for long periods of time, so now mine us always out my back pocket and elsewhere.

As ade says, cycling shorts with the cushion liner worked a treat for me.

Having a pain in the arse is a pain in the arse.

I managed to get a K&Q seat for my Bonnie, original Triumph one for £70 from ebay ideal for long distances, keep your eye out as some bikers tend to off load them at the end of the summer. It is the same fitting as the original seat, so no need to do any mods. Hope this helps?
