Thanks had a quick look and seems I won’t need planning permission. I’m going to do it myself or no point cos of labour charges. I’m sure if I take my time and read/watch tutorial I’ll be ok.
I’ve done patios etc in the past and all came out well so as it’s just a concrete pad then dwarf wall I’m happy to go slowly to get it right.
There is some cracking of the outer wall above the current storm porch roof which I will probably pay to have done first.

The main things to get your head round initially are:

Planning permission - IF you can build

Building regs - WHAT the minimum standards of construction are

Building control - local authority inspectors WHO may drop by and check on compliance.

You need the ticks in the boxes to avoid problems when you come to sell. Resolving cracks in the storm porch might best be used as a way to tie the new structure to the old.

I build my own. Only as the builder I got said he had a bad back so I did the footings the base. He then proceeded to build about three four rows of bricks that I hodded for him. Then next day said he would not be back as he had a job at Heathrow to go to. So I finished it on my own. The only job I need to redo sometime is the roof as I just did a flat roof to get by. As far as I can remember we didn't need any planning as long as it didn't go over the hall window. Not the best job but it does and it is only single brick. I will try to check height and take a picture tomorrow.
    Regards
    Joe.

Yes for sure. I didn't think and whilst there why not get the camera. Seems the right thing to do.

Nice one cheers Joe. That was one of my questions whether it’s singe or double skin that’s needed.
