Anti Lift Helmet

I had the same issue with Shoei NXR in my Speed Triple (at high speeds..). The solution was to tighten the strap harder. I bought a HJC RPHA which seems a lot better. Possibly fitting a chin curtain may help - assuming one is available for your helmet. Also some have added the thicker cheek pads for more grip on the face. These are an accessory for some Shoei helmets.

 

Shoei make small, standard and large cushion inserts for their helmets. Rather than new helmet you could try thicker pads all round.

 

I have the Qwest fitted with the chin curtain and it definitely helps. Not had any issue with it on either of my bikes so may be worth a try

 

I wear a Schuberth R2 and it has a chin curtain that definitely stops the helmet lifting. Personally however I don’t use it, as a wearer of specs I find it makes them steam up.

 

I had a Shoei (X1000 I think) which had an annoying tendency to lift at speed (both on the Trident - upright -and the Daytona - head down - when I had it) but which was reasonably quiet. Replaced it with an HJC RPHA which doesn't seem to lift at speed but is unbearably noisy. Both are comfortable helmets although the HJC required quite a lot of bedding in.
Sadly it is pot luck when you buy a new helmet as to whether it is quiet, comfortable over a day's riding and doesn't lift at speed. Thank heaven for earplugs!

 

The tightening of the strap helped me with my open face, stopped it lifting my head up.

I had a HJC-IS17 and it lifted something terrible on motorway shoulder checks. I fitted one of those "windjammer" curtains and it helped a great deal. This might be worth exploring before spending out on a new helmet.
My current helmet is an Arai QV-Pro, no lift but it does let a lot of air through and a balaclava is almost compulsory this time of year.

 

Are those Windjammer11 curtain thingies any good at cutting out wind noise as they are advertised so to do? My HJC RPHA is the noisiest helmet I've ever used, which is its only down side. Otherwise it is the best helmet I've had in a long time. Earplugs don't always work too well for me for some reason, even though I've used them on and off for many a year.

I didnt buy it for that purpose so didnt really think about it

 

I put a peak on my helmet, totally stoped the lift... but it’s a bit village people/CHiPs looking... fortunately I am so manly and oozing supercool vibes, I pull it off without loosing kudos...
