Did you know there was another bike called a Trophy and that it was a 2 stroke Also that there was another Boxer engined bike that was not BMW. None other than a 350 MZ made in the late 1950's Photos taken at the DDR motorbike museum Prora Germany
Boxer engined bikes?? Douglas Dragonfly (and others going back in time - some engine mounted along the frame!) Chang Jiang 750 Ural (aka Urinal) Dneiper (same as the above - almost) Velocette LE/Valiant/Vogue There are other, more obscure examples e.g Raleigh if you look hard enough. I'm sure I've forgotten an obvious one! Ok, I know, no-one likes a smartarse! But I knew nothing of the MZ flat twin, although a mate at work, many years ago, actually had an MZ Trophy thingy, followed by an MZ TS250 - much easier on the eye!!
You are certainly a boxer expert. Anyway click the YouTube link and there's a video of one of those MZ 2 stroke boxers running. They sound nice don't you think
Shaft driven, 2 stroke boxer! I'm impressed. Pity he ran over the cat as he put the bike to bed!! Me, an expert? Nah! Not me! Look .... Ex = a has been, spurt = a drip under pressure! Oh! Ah! Yes, I see what you mean. If I'm honest, I started on this biking malarkey in 1966 and some of things I learned/saw/picked up along the way seem to have got stuck in me brain. Then, just when I think it's safe, someone asks a question and all this safely stored nonsense comes dribbling (another sign of me age) out! "Ee lass, I know some stuff!!" Sadly it is mostly rubbish! SIGH!!
