    Evening all,

So yesterday I brought home my newly purchased 98 Thunderbird Sport. Today's job was to change the oil. Unfortunately however when fitting the new sump plug, it drew in on the thread but wouldn't tighten and kept on turning. Upon inspection I've discovered that there's two opposite sections of the threaded sump plug hole missing (see picture).

Is this a new pan or could this could a Helicoil be used?

Give the helicoil a try , what can you lose ? Just be wary on first couple of rides.... ?
