I'm going to be picking up a 2006 955i later this week and wondered if anyone had some base suspension setup advice for me? I weigh 16st 3lbs, which is 103kg nekkid and 112kg with gear on.

I know a lot of it will involve tweaking later, but I don't know how the bike is set up at the moment.

    Cheers!

I'm getting mine set up soon by a local company called Race Lab, when I have the spare cash. I know this is of no use to you being in Stoke! Did you get the owners manual with the bike?? In there if I remember correctly are the settings for factory standard set up https://www.manualslib.com/manual/538481/Triumph-Daytona-955i.html?page=82

    Hope this helps....

Someone might be along later with some contacts for suspension set ups in your area.

i would make sure the suspension is set to the factory settings as i've always found them to be pretty good, then you can tweek them to suit if need be. what i would recomend is rather than adjusting by just one or two clicks from factory setting it's better to fully harden or soften then tweek from there. unless you are going to be doing track days or club racing you will struggle to notice the differance 1 or 2 clicks make

Ditto for factory settings - you need to have a baseline to work from.

Ultimately all suspension work is personal to the rider, some like a stiff set-up, others like it loosey goosey.

    Cheers for the replies!

I don't have the bike yet, deposit is down on it though. I'll check the stock settings when I get it and have a fiddle.

As you can probably see in my avatar, I track ride so all my bikes are set up properly. I don't trust factory setup a lot of the time, the Guzzi Griso was diabolical on factory settings!

It was pretty much on stock settings, except for the rear comp and reb which were 2 turns out from H.

    For now, I've gone with

    Front:
    Pre 3.5 rings.
    Comp: 3/4T from H
    Reb: 1T from H

    Rear:
    Comp 1 1/2T from H
    Rev 1 1/2T from H

I've also dropped the tyre pressures from the ludicrous 38-44 to what I run on my other road bikes, 32-36. I know someone is likely to go "Thats way too low, you'll damage the tyres!". I tun Battlax T30s as low as 31 26r HOT on track on a Moto Guzzi... ;)

Edit: Thinking about it, in winter the tyres aren't going to warm as much. I'll make it 34-38.
