I got issues with the back brake on my 2006 Daytona/speed triple. Brake has become sticky and binding with these crap weather/road conditions. I've been recommended fitting a Sprint caliper/disc/holder. Anyone out there done this? Anyone know of a Sprint disc/caliper/caliper holder for sale? Andy
Not sure I would change the brake over as the rear brake most probably needs a good clean out and new fluid. As far as parts go this is your best bet. http://thetriumphforum.co.uk/forum/f22/parts-finder-used-parts-1540/
Almost certainly got corrosion behind the dust seals. Caliper needs a good strip. Remove the corrosion and rebuild with red rubber grease. It is a common problem.
The rear brake on the Daytona comes in for a lot of stick. I've tried the ZXR conversions but didn't find it much different to the original when fully refurbished. Kept in good nick it suits me fine, although I don't like a fierce rear brake just as long as it will handle a steep hill start it's fine.
Thanks, I've ordered Sprint components, will post how I get on. Thanks, I've ordered Sprint components, will let you know how I get on.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Sprint rear now fitted. It's so much a better set up. It also means I have the possibility of 360 degrees adjustment in the rear wheel. I currently have the axle at the top of the hub which lowers the seat height by approx. 40mm, a much more chilled, relaxed riding position, and if I want to go sporty it's just slacken the pinch bolt and roll the hub back around, 5 minutes max.. Down points, I've had to shorten the side stand and put in a spacer for the hugger to fit. Thanks to Ivan, NationalTriumph for the parts, Andy John
