Vintage Tiger 885i - What Sort Of Mpg Should I Expect?

hi all,
as the post heading, what sort of mpg should i get from my 885i tiger?
its early days for my ownership, but im disappointed to calculate im getting about 35mpg from average driving so far.
also, when the fuel level needle starts hitting the red, i bottle it and head to nearest petrol station to only squeeze in 17 litres. is that normal fuel guage behaviour? thats 8 litres left in it ! thats a big reserve!
