Thought I would share a solution to a minor, but annoying problem that plagues 865cc A\C Modern Classics.

THE PROBLEM: The oil pressure warning switch is covered by a thin, cheap, and poorly made rubber boot to protect the "live" connection when the bike ignition is ON. The replacement part is around $25USD and comes with the rubber and wire lead, but still is a piece of garbage. It is a common problem, that the rubber boot cracks, rips and deteriorates over time. It also has a high risk of tearing it when swapping in a new one. Finally, the way it is positioned encourages water to seep in and collect in the boot, which in turn, creates an earth ground and falsely triggers the oil warning light after a vigorous bike wash or rain ride.

    THE SOLUTION:
There is an alternative replacement part for around $10USD meant for vintage T140 bikes. It is roughly the same dimensions, made from a better rubber quality and there is enough wire to position the part to create a "drip-loop" and prevent water seep from the topside.

You can buy it here in the US and there are other vendor outlets if you are in the UK.

The last photo is the new boot fitted to my bike. It overlays the hex nut and prevents grime from working its way into the connection margin. It also has a stem that will allow the wire eyelet to pass through with some dialectic grease and if you heat shrink (or tape) the crimp to avoid tear. Finally it can be positioned downward to prevent water infiltration and create the draining loop.

Thanks for that tip, I agree that the original boot is c**p. I will have to follow that up and sort the boot out on my T100.
