    does anyone know anything about triumph and the police force my barrel has a p stamped on it someone said its x police bik e. 1973 triumph trophy oif job

    Have a look at www.tri-corengland.com for the engine number dating system. I'm guessing that the P to which you refer relates to the month of manufacture (November) and not the year (1977).
    Then again I could have misunderstood your dilemma (nowt new there then)!

    Engine numbers are on the crankcase on the left hand side a P on the barrel has no real meaning. If its an ex Police bike the numbers on the crankcase will start with TR6P

    Did the police spec bikes, at one time or another, get some form of rubber mounting for the engine? I'm sure I read it somewhere.:confused:

    A few bikes were made with rubber mounts just for evaluation but there is very little info on these bikes.

    Yes mate I want the right size front wheel so that the front mudguard looks right and I have already got a nice rear wheel ready to fit just needs a tyre any suggestions oh and two new tyre clamps. Where can I get them from. Thanks again

    Either tyre would be ok for your bike, i use the K70's on my 69 T120 as they do a 400 18 rear and 325 19 front that were standard fit. As i ride my older bikes at a lot slower pace than my modern bike i find them more than adequate :)
