Hello Team. I'm rebuilding a 64 Cub 200 and hoping to find some wisdom here. The whole thing fits in my back pocket damn near, but I hear it's a special bike model/run and I'd like to do it right. Also, parts getting seems to be an issue. Well, back to the salt mine. Right now it's minus a front fender. Any leads on where to find one that isn't 400 dollars (I think that's like 40 pounds...haha...my United States is showing).
Howdy Sparky, and welcome in Start a thread in the Builds & Projects section where you will find a lot of expertise @darkman
Hi Sparky. If you haven't already tried Baxters - or maybe you have and they're the $400 option - they should be able to source a front mudguard. https://www.baxtercycle.com/parts/ I have to say that I've heard some pretty unfavourable feedback about them and/or their products so proceed with caution. We did have a guy join the forum late last year - @Restorer Man - when he needed information to source exhaust parts for a couple of Cubs he was restoring but he isn't very active on the forum, perhaps because his car and motorcycle restoration business keeps him too busy (Mark at Ridgetop Restorations in Wisconsin). It might be worth giving him a call and seeing if he can help with sources he may have uncovered in the US? He must have some experience, even if it's negative, that might provide you with a possible head start. Over here there are a few specialist Cub suppliers but with an item such as the front mudguard/fender the mailing costs from the UK are going to be an issue regardless of the supplier. Nevertheless, the following all offer Cub spares https://www.meridenoffroad.co.uk/ http://www.tigercubspares.co.uk/ https://www.britishbikebits.com/triumph-t20-tiger-cub-parts https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/greystonestigercubwarehouse www.auto-cycle.co.uk are specialist mudguard suppliers And, finally, there is a company over here - RENOVATION SPARES - that are able to make pretty much any motorcycle mudguard, even oddball one offs, to original size and spec. They deal mainly via autojumbles (swap meets to you!) and don't have an online presence but you can email Simon on [email protected] Simon is a REALLY nice guy, very helpful and knowledgeable but he's also pretty busy and the mudguard business is (or was) not his full time occupation so, if he does do sales to the U.S., you might have to wait! Good luck with the project - let's see plenty of before, during and after photo's, please, and don't just forget the rest of your forum colleagues once the project's complete and you ride that pretty T20 happily into another California sunset ................
Welcome Sparky, I agree with the boys, post pictures of various stages of the build, and have fun riding it when you've finished
Should be an interesting conversation - the Tiger Cub ceased production in the late '60's so a 1976 Tiger Cub would be ....uhmmmm.... unusual and unlikely, if not impossible (could have been re-registered or summat!). He MIGHT have a 1976 TIGER which would be the oily-frame 750 single carb. which is a whole 'nother story. Nice bike with the export tank.
Hmmm .... well, first off, I wouldn't REALLY like anything I, personally, have said or say to be deemed reasonable grounds to exterminate somebody ..... anybody. Second - walk a mile in his shoes before you think about exterminating him, Duck. Whether or not he should be in a wheelchair is immaterial; whether or not he's full of the proverbial and whether or not he REALLY is a horrible little so and so, I think it's one heck of a stretch to want to exterminate him with such extreme prejudice. Third - and last - even if he's only a wannabe Triumph owner, he has a right to dream, a right to fantasise and even a right to claim vicarious membership of the esteemed and glorious Triumph fraternity .... as long as it does nobody any harm. And it seems to me he is, likely, harmless. OK, sermon and THREAD DERAILMENT over. Back to 1964 T20's, rebuilds and some California dreaming?
Hi Sparky and welcome to the forum great introduction mate, best wishes on your rebuild and parts search
