Apologies if there's an existing thread. I am trying to source a headlight unit for my Tiger 800 XCX, 2020 model. My local dealer has no stock and says that the UK factory have none either. If I wait for a new OEM part, the bike will be off the road for 2 to 4 months. If anyone can direct me to a source of either salvaged parts or aftermarket LED units, please let me know. My bike is the model with LED daytime running lights, so all the previous model's units (pre-2019) will NOT work. Looking globally, but USA/ UK would be better (there are none in SA).

No kidding - they are hard to find!

It seems like the explorer 1200 headlight were once interchangeable with the 800 and there are plenty of those about - with the led DLR strip in them too - although they are saying 2018.

Maybe try putting Triumph Tiger 1200XRT 2018 Front light / headlight into eBay and see if they are still compatible with your model Tiger.

Some are going for £500 though - pricey.

I noted that there are companies on the inter web that do after market LED units such as https://mattgeckoleds.com/shop/ols/products/led-headlight-triumph-tiger-800-1200

    Might that be an option?

Alternatively you could get handy with a bit of metal, grinder, saw, welder and drill and make a bracket to mount another bikes lights?

Good luck - you have a challenge ahead.

Thanks! My middle name is not handy!!! Especially if you ask my domestic boss!!! I have looked at that site but all the LED solutions are for models pre-2019 unfortunately. I'll check the compatibility of the 1200XRT 2018, thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!

Might be worth contacting the manufacturer of the after-market ones as they might have a solution?

They would also customise you ride a bit ;)

    Best of luck.

I found 2 sites who seem to have stock - well they don’t say out of stock.

    bike-parts-triumph.com
    worldoftriumph.com

Both use the right part numbers, so let’s see.

    Good job finding those!

I rummaged everywhere, even down the back of the sofa but could’t find anything (other than a few coins, a squashed starburst sweet and lots of fluff).

Surprised @MICK64 hasn’t blessed you with his omniscience on all things.

He’s become the self appointed guru on running forums (apparently).

I value the archives. Good place to start looking for solutions. However if you don’t find the answer then please ask a new question with all your unique issues.

What dear Mick doesn’t realise is that he is making the rest of the long timers live a Ground Hog Day scenario. We have to re-read the whole thread before finding he says something trivial. I’ll be first to admit there have been a few threads that HAVE fired up and been exciting with amazing new collaboration. But that is not the majority - most are wasting our time.

If MICK wants to be our resident self appointed expert (and go head to head with a few notable members for that title who frankly really deserve it) and continuing resurrecting old posts then what he could usefully instead do is examine each and every historical post and distill the agreed solution into a new thread. Everyone can then (in the fastest way possible) find the answer to a trillion little issues that brought the author to the forum only never to return or say thank you.

I’ll wager £10 that we get a 2013 post that has an indicator that intermittently works. On one moment, off the next.

Looking forward to hearing the insightful advice that will ensue.

I agree. The search function is a great way to find stuff and a brilliant source of info. I've certainly replied to a post that's ancient by accident and now I always look at the last post time.
I just wish, as you've said, that he'd just start a new one. Genuine posts will be missed by us as it's getting moved down the list.
I just have to think how i'd spend your £10 now....

Don’t expect to spend the £10 too soon. There’s a lot of archive material I expect we’re going to see - one of them will definitely be the one I described ;):joy:

An intermittent indicator on/off issue is definitely a broken wire somewhere.......;)
