The rear tyre on my 2014 America is getting low on tread. What are peoples recommendations for a replacement.?

Avon Cobras or michelin commander II I believe was the choice of Mr Orange (Ron) and he does enough miles and
research on other sites and posts to listen to :D
Though I'm sure others will add some input to your question very soon.

But for me tyres still good (well if you can call them that) but tread still very good on my 2014 America.

Michelin Commander II's on mine I find them great wet or dry, had Bridgestone's on before the Michelins and they don't even come close.

Avon Cobra's seem to be the cruiser tyre of choice. Great reports all round and come with the usual couple of mm extra tread Avon seem to favour.
Was getting a pair but then the sun ce put and hasn't Rained for ages, so gonna use my marathons out and get a set of Avon's when the usual Scottish summer weather returns!

I read a lot about the mets that come with the bike and agree when worn I will probably try another type if for nothing more to see if there is a difference but that could be quite a while as the Mets do last.

    So I watched this video

And my chicken strips are wide so I could see on a tight bend or if I got it wrong how the tyres might wash out but that's not because the Mets are bad.

Also thinking if you load up with pillion and luggage you bound to lighten the front end so the front is more likely to give way especially if your chicken strips are wide.

Basing all these thoughts on assuming what delboy states is correct.

So my be worth scrubbing the Mets to give them there proper performance?

Never heard or seen of anyone doing this to a tyre !!!!

IMHO, what Delboy is advocating is a lot of bollocks ! If you ain't using all the lean on your bike, in an emergency is not the time to try it out !!!

Get out on an industrial estate or quiet roundabout and practice some if your worried about chicken strips, not that I ever would worry about them. I had the pegs down on my gixxer and still had chicken strips on the front tyre !!! So anybody that points at your unused tyre and thinks your chicken - ain't worth a shit anyways !!!!

I have big strips on the back of the America, I regularly scuff my pegs, so the bike ain't going any further over, to use any more of the tyre, than I am already using.

And the mets are not brilliant, they are OK in the dry, but in the wet they are abysmal !!! The tramlining across white lines and ribbed road surface is poor, hope it will improve when I change to Avons.

Agree about the tram lining and yes the America will always have thick strips.

Just got me thinking that's all, the point seemed valid but no I don't worry about my strips and I don't plan to do it.

Just putting it out there ;)
