    Hi

Recently purchased a 2011 Speed Triple 1050 and have noticed after a run the right hand side exhaust pipe seems to have sooty deposits on it, is this normal? The bike seems to run ok although the burbling and popping is quite prevalent if you catch the ride gear/ rev point. I have just checked the air filter and it looks brand new (minor service by shop prior to buying may have changed it) so not able to see if it's running rich.

    Hi

What exhausts you running? I ask because i have previously bought a pre-owned triumph with standard exhausts, only to find out later that the previous owner had aftermarket exhausts fitted and had the engine re-mapped to suit, but on swapping back to standard for the sale, didn't bother having the standard map downloaded. Symptoms were are you describe.

    Good luck with it tho...

Standard exhausts, I wonder if you are correct about the previous owner. How do you check, is it a case of buying a cable and software?

I believe there is a program (tuneboy/tune ecu etc) that can be downloaded to check what tune is installed. Sorry to be vague but i'm unsure about what the program is... hopefully someone will be along in a minute with the answer... Maybe try re-posting in the Speed Triple sub forum.

Alternatively, ask your dealer to run diagnostics... shouldnt take long.

It's tuneecu... free program but you have to buy the cable. Don't get a cheap ebay one as they're crap. Look here http://lonelec.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=52 list of maps on the tuneecu site but save yours first just in case. Loads of stuff you can have a play with on there.

My arrows get sooty though, the pop/bang is normal because of the AIS which can be disabled if you don't like it but I do lol

As Carter says get a lead from lonelec and download the tuneecu software for your laptop, it's free. I choose to use the android version on a cheap tablet, only a few quid. You can find out your current map, change maps and alter all sorts of stuff. It's well worth it and a very useful tool.
