My 2009 Speed Triple 1050 (SE) seems to have lost its appetite for heavy acceleration. In fact, it splutters whenever under heavy acceleration, particularly at lower RPM.

Occasional backfiring has been noticed in the past under similar circumstances.

My guesses would be Fuel filter, Plugs or a sensor somewhere.

    Suggestions ?

Could be an ignition coil going off.

A mates 675 triple ran great, always started well but just now and again agghhh :D:rolleyes:
After one day out where it ran fine for the first 4 hours or so it started spluttering when asking for more.
We nursed it home and I said, why don't you borrow the coils off my 675 and see how it goes?
Problem solved itself instantly with nothing else done.
He bought himself a new 2nd hand set of coils and gave me mine back.

    The end ;)

  4. Thanks for your information, Eldon. This gives me something else to look into to solve this issue. It may well just arm me with options to talk to my mechanic with given that I am heading off to Cairns for a short holiday, before riding out to Miles from Brisbane later this month and may not find enough time to sort it myself. Thanks for your input !
