Grin and bear it mate and just keep trudging on with your wits about you. Its a very poor place to find yourself, I know ive been there, but it does get better. Double check any advice given; I received empathy from the mortgage advisor, what a snake!
I challenged his figures and options to be told "Oh I hadnt thought of that as it means you need to give me a lump sum (saving me money per month and in the long term)".
Is there any kids involved?

Glad you are getting there. Army buddies are the best. After my wife passed away. A couple of months after I had a knock on the door. There was a man there and he introduced himself as Coronel Hulme. He said is Mrs McDonald home. I replied sorry my wife has passed away what is it. He said we got this back to front we were told you had passed away and the regiment made a collection for your wife so you can have it. Back in 86 it was something around three thousand pounds. And he and his visited me every other week or so form the boys and paid every thing for my three kids even took them on holiday so I could have break. That's why to me they are another big family. And you know you as an ex-service man are entitled to approach SAFFA for help.

I've never been in your situation but I have lost a wife, so I can only imagine and estimate your turmoil. Whatever the reasons many have been through it and emerged much stronger at the end. As you will.

Life can be a tw*t at times, continue to be strong, you've got the balls.

Elevensies, I'm sorry to hear your situation and that you have had to sell the bikes and truck. As someone who has gone through similar (twice), and was left with very little afterwards, all I can say is don't beat yourself up over it, you will be surprised at how quickly you can turn things around again.
