Time and time again I read about the shoddy finish on our Triumphs although it’s not happened to me. I read in disgust about Triumphs attitude towards their bike owners. The thing is Nothing will ever happen unless we group together.
I’m a member of ‘Which’ magazine and they have some serious serious clout!! They were behind the VW emissions scandal and kicked arse and many more domestic and commercial disputes. They would only be too happy to sort Triumph out and have a far bigger presence than citizens advice and challenge the likes of the government even.
Sign up for an initial £1trial and become a member, buy an annual subscription as it’s also good reading.

    THIS IS THE WAY FORWARD!!!

Hopefully if enough people contact them it’ll get them interested. Maybe post this on all Triumph forums

To be fair the Schrader valve has corrosion there and not made by triumph. It could be that the bike has been stored poorly in a damp envoenviron or one trip of those 260 miles was on a salted road ? Not making excuses for triumph but corrosion happens in corrosive conditions. My last triumph was 11 reg . Had no visible corrosion but the plugs were corroded due to water getting where it shouldn't . How bad are Triumph compared with say Yamaha or Suzuki?

Yes I get that, its just that if the valve has corroded which is probably a standard part used widely, it does not indicate a corrosion free environment for the bike so maybe not unexpected to have signs elsewhere.

    Old Fart comment/opinion:

In the dying days of Norton, BSA, Triumph there was no problem with the chrome. Japanese chrome was not as good and Italian generally derided. These days we simply don’t make quality chrome rims in any volume in these islands.......

Fast forward 40 yrs and Triumph allegedly have a problem. The early bikes made in the UK had Italian sourced rims and now they appear to be Phillipine sourced. There are swathes of riders round the world where the climate is kinder to chrome. Only retro styled machines have them and a generation raised on alloy rims has forgotten the love, care and time they need.

I suspect sourcing parts of premium quality at modest prices has led to a trade off between engineering and accountancy. Things will only change when they stop shifting product globally. Taking a bit of a hit in Northern Europe to sell more competitively elsewhere will be all part of the calculation.

The Consumers’ Association (Which?) will struggle to gain much traction for what is, in relative terms, a pretty small market for a slightly nebulous complaint that varies from owner to owner.

Understood fully for us older generation but on the flip side these modern day bikes still need to be of merchandisable quality and fit for use with our British climate

I am very close to buying a Street Scrambler and then I see another post like this and it remines me why I left the Triumph fold many years ago. I had a '01 Bonnie and garage kept over one winter the "plating" on the covers begain to bubble. The spokes rusted and the rims pitted.

The dealer said, "oh you rode it in the rain" Yeah, it's British bike for God's sake I understand they are known for rain.

I started with a '59 Triumph Tiger Cub, no rust or bubbles. I will admit it could be a bitch to start.

Anyway I also had a Harley in the garage next to the Bonnie. 70,000 miles and the hog was pristine.

I'm a geezer so retro's attractive, plus I want something say 400 lbs. Lighter than my lastest Harley. There are dealers closing over here because of corporate demands. Maybe they should make a solid bike before demanding anything.

Every bike marque has its faults. Ask yourself how you feel after a proper ride out, electrified and buzzing, Chilled, complete? Then price the problems in with the cost of the bike which is what I do

Oh, I know very well. I already test rode the SS and found it to be one of the easiest to ride bikes out there. Plus it's very similar to what I rode in the sixties. Thereby giving me a feeling of my youth. All valid points.

But I still have a beautiful Harley in the garage and that float's my boat too. I'd sell or trade a Vespa to make room for the Triumph. My disappointment in the finish of the '01 Bonnie was enormous. To read that there's still quality control issues or is it price point, either way it's holding me back. But retro/style wise, I want one.

Why don’t you wait until it happens to you before mounting a hate campaign without your own experience. The people complaining may have ridden through salt covered wet roads and not cleaned up afterwards for all you know.
Please don’t jump until you need to

I don't really flow with this one. Triumph have always supported me in any help I needed and have been really good and friendly. But I find that some people buy a bike never clean or wash them. Then when things start to go wrong. It every one's fault but theirs. Thing about mag's if they are getting lots of advertising fee's they are full of praise if not they slate everything. Like a blackmail tatic
    Regards
    Joe
