My dad used to cut his Mars bars up - I'd pinch a piece and he'd frown. Apparently Marathon bars did not translate too well in America - hence Snickers. Soon you won't be able to say that you've trumped

Thought it was to bring us into line with Europe. It was called a snickers bar in Germany.
If its the Yanks fault then F@%k you America.
I still go in to shops now and ask for a Marathon just to confuse/annoy them.
Worst thing thou is going out to the ice cream van and no longer being allowed to ask for a black man ( my fellow Scots will know what that is )
It was known as that for as long as ..........

Cos our American cousins couldn't decide which vowel to emphasise!! There's 3 in marathon. You say tomato etc etc

It was/is (as you can still get them but just under a different name) a Ice cream wafer.
Two blobs of vanilla ice cream bottom part of the wafer was made of marshmallow which was coated with chocolate and coconut this was sandwiched between two normal wafers. Normal wafer top.
The vanilla ice cream was a local variation (by local I mean Scottish as I have never seen it on sale anywhere else in the UK) rather than the like of Asda's best etc
As to a popeye did it have spinach in it :)

My wife sent me for a 99 with " monkey blood" - never heard of it. The ice cream seller said it was raspberry sauce then he said " you should hear what they call the brown sauce" o_O

Crikey the rocket would be melted before I got to eat it. I would need a cup to put the rocket in so that I could drink it after :)

You've not seen how slowly I eat ice cream. I'm still eating mine long after every one else.
In face I always end up licking it off my fingers.

Would love to know how it got its name too. I just remember as a kid saying I would like a black man.
It was the combination of ice cream and marshmallow that did it :)
First time I was told the name I thought it was a wind up.
As to racism that tends to be more an English problem, Anti Scots feelings have been rising sadly even I have experienced this since the referendum. No not the aindependance one that was just certain English politicians ......
