About to become proud owner of 2004 Daytona 955 - test rode one last year and very impressed with triple motor - ready for a bit of touring and sporty rides. Last time I rode a triple was a friend's 180 Jota on the TT course - legs weren't long enough and hands too small for the levers - how big are Italians?! It comes with a short warranty - so any obvious issues to have a look for? It has 16,000 miles on the clock and full service history.
Welcome to the forum scotdoc Nice bike the Daytona, 16k miles is nothing, just check the history, servicing, possible insurance write off etc.
Hey Scot, welcome aboard. Cracking engine those big triples. I have one in a Sprint. Mate on here (an occasional lurker) reckons it sounds like a Transit - only cuz he's got a Street Triple with a whiny kiddies engine in it. I reckon yours will sound proper gutsy. Fwiw, if my SWMBO is anything to go by, Italians are tiny. btw, we're gonna need plenty of pictures once you've collected and polished it.
Hi, great bike. Make sure it has had the 12000 mile service which includes the valves. It is a very expensive job at a dealers, I believe over 400 quid. Also check battery is top notch or sprag clutch could go and again it is a big job, make sure there are no weird sounds from starter when you fire up. Good luck
Welcome to the Madhouse Scotdoc from a fellow Daytona rider +1 to some of the comments. Just check to see if the 12K service was done. I got my wheels last year and only had 11,372 miles on the clock and it was something I hadn't checked or overlooked!! 12K service is a biggy (valve clearance, throttle balance, swing arm etc etc) and comes at a price unfortunately (mine cost just short of £600 ) Saying that though, when all was checked its was all within tolerances. Piece of mind I guess knowing that it doesn't have to be checked again until 24K I'm sure your new wheels be ok and hope you have as much fun on it as I do mine
