A quick hello, Sprint RS owner/rider and also have an old Ducati 900ss. Love both bikes but for different reasons. The Triumph is silky smooth. Been riding for approx 7 years. The Triumph has developed a strong fuel smell recently so I thought I'd better come to this forum to seek assistance as thinking maybe others have had the same problem.

Welcome buddy . You have come to the right place . I had a similar issue on my Daytona . After removing the tank, I found the plastic fuel line connecter being snapped . Swapped it with a metal one n the problem went away .

Thanks chaps, it's a 955i fuel injected engine. The fuel smell is evident when not running, i.e. just parked up at home.
Bike runs fine. There's no obvious signs of leakage anywhere but will investigate over next couple of days.

Hi CK_UK and welcome in - just had another thought - in about 2001 Triumph changed their fuel connectors from plastic ones to metal. Apparently the plastic ones would fracture VERY easily.

Thanks all, I've eagerly got the tools out this morning on this beautiful sunny day. This is my other half's bike so I want to get it sorted for her. I realised the tank doesn't seem to need to come off, but removed the rear side panels to allow better access to the RHS where the tank connections seem to be (correct me if I'm wrong anywhere here).

I've taken the following photos and it looks like a leak but can't see any cracks on the white plastic connector as such. I can see that you press a metal clip and the whole thing will come out, but didn't do so as I had visions of fuel spurting out everywhere. Am I looking in the right place? Is the white connector the one which was later replaced with a metal one? I can't see exactly where it's leaking from but you can see the whole area has seen some fuel action.

I believe that white connector is the culprit . The problem is when you try to unscrew it might snap and leave the reminder of the plastic thread inside. You will need to be very careful when unscrewing it. Once you have removed it, replace that unit with metal one.

There is a UK company called Tom Parker Ltd - 01772 255 109.
These guys should have the metal connectors .

Give us a shout if you have any questions .

    All the best

Hi guys, just to confirm, am I looking at the right place as per pics above? Or is the dodgy plastic fuel connection actually underneath the tank? If so, presume you have to pump out the tank first?

Also what product name/number should I ask for at Tom Parker?

    ^^
The connector is under the tank n screwing into the tank. You will need to drain the tank. I'm not sure but you will need to find the your part number N give tom parker a call. I will see if I can upload a picture of how the connector looks

You need to replace the plastic one with the metal one. It's the thread that usually cracks in the plastic Metal Connector.jpg Metal Connector.jpg Connector.jpg Connector.jpg
