Hi all, newbie to Triumphs, and need help already!

I have bought a 2000 speed triple on a 'W' plate and have been looking at having both headlights on at once. I googled this and it seems that you need 2 relays and I would imagine dual lamps in the headlights, but when I took my seat off there doesn't appear to be any empty relay plugs under the bar.

There is the indicator relay but nothing next to it.

Does this mean that uk bikes can not support both headlights or did triumph change the spec in later models and my bike is too old?

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Ken

Hi Biffy, I'm sure someone will know a more speedy specific answer soon enough but one thing you could look at is a hid conversion. I've mentioned it in a previous post but basically instead of having one lamp for main and one for high beam it would move the bulb position to create the difference in light pattern. Plus HID is loads brighter than normal bulbs, its going to be my next investment.

HIDs pull less power than standard bulbs so you would need to do a bit of research but it might be a better way than bodging wiring?

Something like this might work http://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-H4-HID-Headlamp-Conversion-6000K/dp/B002RLHAT4

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Hi Biffa, welcome to the site. If you have a look at the bikes for sale post from recky2000 - he has a Speed IV for sale and this is a quote from his description of his bike: I have fitted the headlight solenoid, this switches on both headlights rather than just the standard 1 headlight, this not only makes the bike look better but also safer day and night. It may be worth dropping him a quick message for some advice?
