    Here's a link to one of the clearest explanations I've found, there are lots more around, it seems a fairly common surgery. And some sound clips on youtube too. I'll always go for the cheapest mods first, (already pulled off the AI system and the air box baffle) as they are usually more fun and more satisfying than clicking the "Buy Now" button. Also coming from Lancs meself, I'm a bit....er....thrifty.

    Also, most folk junk their stock pipes asap as they make the bike sound like a sewing machine, so they are plentyful and cheap in case you want to revert or you make a mess, so it's worth the experimenting to me. Will let you know.

    Thanx for info. I have seen baffleectomy done on the Peashooter type but not on the later reverse cone type efi type. If you go ahead with it let me know the result. I notice that you have already done the AI system mod & what difference did it it make? Soz to go on but is it necessary to do that before attempting this exhaust job?

    Hello Phil, U have a couple of thoughts to offer you:

    1. Removing the AI system: BENEFITS - smoother throttle control and removes or reduces popping on overrun.

    2. Bafflectomy - 2 versions - airbox and exhaust cans. Both are worth doing as they allow the bike engine to breath better.

    Re the airbox - there is a baffle plate inside the airbox that reduces the airflow - if you want to optimise performance this should be removed;

    Re exhaust cans - yes you can de-baffle the cans but I would argue that for the cost of a couple of after-market more open pipes (approx £80) you might be better off leaving your Triumph cans as std. for later on when you decide to sell the bike on, rather than butcher them.

    I took this approach with my T100. I paid £78 for a pair of brand new aftermarket cans that sounded beautiful even with the baffles left in, but if you want you can remove them by undoing 1 small bolt on each can.

    These are what I bought:

    Hi Phil, do you know if yours is on carbs or Fuel Injection? Either way if you change the inlet and exhaust sides of your engine to let it breath better, you'll need to enrich the fuelling. But the upside is it'll go a lot better.

    Re centre stand, when I did all the mods on my T100 I retained the stand without any problems.

    Yes mine is 865cc EFI cast wheel type 09 model so if i changed to those short megaphone types it might need a remap?

    Many thanx for info & patience. I dont need/want extra performance just make it sound proper, as thats what put me into court in the first place.

    OK Phil I understand better now. If you just change the exhaust cans, you won't need to remap the bike, so it's an easy, cheap job.
