Belt drive clutch on t140v bonnie

    Hi all. My clutch is slipping on my 73 t140v bonnie. Been told to get new clutch plates, pads and springs. It has a belt drive kit conversion. Is there certain plates, pads and springs i need to get?

    It's years since i did the clutch on my T120 and i get most of my parts locally from Ray at Brit Bits, do a bit of research and buy the best you can afford :) LP Williams and Burton bike spares.

    It depends on what you have for a belt drive.

    They use the smaller 7 plate clutch set up :)

    I seen that advertised. Can feel it slip when revs are high. My old man took the bike out a blast the other day and said it shud be pulling alot quicker in second gear. The bike also doesnt go into gear sometimes, as in i change into 3rd or 4th gear and it feels like neutral. Is this also the result of poor clutch plates?

    A poor clutch can mess up changes, one thing you could do is take it appart and clean it all up and refit and retry :)

    Ok will try that tomorrow. I read somewhere about boiling the plates?

    Lol, yes boiling water and a drop of detergent. but worth just stripping and giving a good clean if all parts look reasonable then refit.

    Have you tried adjusting the centre springs. But I found Burton bike bits very good. I heard whether true or not Tony Hayward was know to say he wouldn't use a belt drive but no proof of it.
