The dip/main beam has a 10amp fuse which is theoretically equal to 120W max. Which is why I asked the question had anyone fitted them.
Hi jhero, do you want to install 100/90 for a specific reason or are you just searching for more light at night? If it's the latter, there are better simpler ways to achieve that result.
Hi thebiglad - Looking for more light at night. The dip beam is not to bad but the main beam seems to spread the light instead of a concentrating the light in a centralised distance beam.
Steve Your right about the spread pattern with the stock headlamp its just that I like to see where I am going at night. I may have to fit some LED driving lights as I have on my R1200RS.
Steve, the driving lights are fitted lower down and set about halfway between the dip and high beam and can be left on with the dip light without blinding oncoming traffic because they have a narrower light beam and are no worse than a lot of modern cars with led lights.
A long time ago I vastly improved the headlight and night riding safety on my RD400 by buying and fitting a Cibie unit which was really simple, no mods required at all, just how I like it! The lens looked a bit odd, it was concave, but the improvement was quite dramatic. No idea if this is still a current proposition though? Curly
Hi Folks. New member reading the thread. Can I chuck a question in. I noticed a while back that the top of the reflector 'bowl' in the headlamp of my twin pipe 99 Thunderbird Sport is really rusty, the patch is about approx. 3" x 2". As above, the spread has always been a bit vague but the rust goes someway to explain why my lights are so poor. I've had a 'search' running on E bay for a good 2 months but can't seem to find a complete light from a stripped / crashed bike. From the World of Triumph parts list, the reflector comes as one complete unit with all the extras for £171. Anyone got any suggestions or names of anyone specialising in Triumph parts / breaking I could try.
Hi, I have recently fitted a glass 7" replacement headlight lens ( Lucas copy ), got it of E Bay for about £12. I had to change the side light holder, also changed the headlight bulb for a Osram nightbreaker bulb cost £8 . the dip beam is much brighter and main beam has a better spread of light. Don`t ride much at night but with the new setup might venture out after dark more. Geoff
I have seen some LED bulbs on Amazon, 45/50 watt low/high beam Are these worth considering as an upgrade? Around the £120 mark for a pair.
Hi John, Do not go the way of fitting higher wattage bulb, firstly not legal, if you have plastic lens or reflector it will distort it or burn it and wiring and plug to bulb will melt with heat from bulb as well, but it will be interesting to find out what you choose to use keep use posted.
A friend of mine has fitted H4 replacement LED bulbs to his classic S type jaguar. The light is phenomenal and uses lower wattage than std so I'm thinking about evicting the glow worm from his jam jar and fitting one to the T110. (I have seen these much cheaper than 120 a pair though Red) What I am not sure about is whether they will fit inside the headlight shell. They seem a bit bulkier than a std H4. I have seen them on hinckley classics but don't know which bulbs they are or if there is a ballast or something in the back of them. Anyone tell us what they are? Thanks Taff 138-836_A.jpg
