    Hi all,
I've bought the Tune ecu android app so I can upload a new map on my Bonneville ecu, before I did I wanted to download the standard map from my ecu to save just in case.
The cable is working fine as it will connect and show readouts on the tune ecu app but when I try to read the map on my ecu to save it the app seems to crash at around 20% of being complete. I have tried this 3 times now with the same results.

Please can anybody think of why this is happening?
I have sent Tune ecu technical support an email but had no reply.

Thanks in advance for any help

Guess I could buy another cable but I was pretty sure it was working due to the readouts tune ecu had been giving.
Thanks for the suggestion though I'll definitely give it a try.

I bought the one from Lonelec as I'd heard of people having trouble with cheap Chinese knock off ones. I just give it another go and it got to 89% before dropping out again Grrrrrrrr.

This is the one I bought thinking it was a safe bet

I've also turned off auto connect as I read somewhere this can also cause problems with some bikes. I have the bikes headlight fuse pulled and it's also plugged into a battery tender, the battery is dropping down to 12.2v before it dropped out and this was probably the same on the 3 tries before too.
Do you think it might be the battery voltage dropping to low?

Almost certainly a battery voltage problem. Maybe the best thing to do is to charge it over night before trying again.

I also think you can also have the charger connected whilst doing all this, but bl will prob say I'm talking gonads again

The battery had been on a battery tender for over 24 hours, it was showing a fully charged battery before I started to read my ecu map while still being plugged into the battery tender, So I'm thinking the battery may even be on the way out as its 4 years old now.
Thanks for all the replys its good to get other people views. ;)

Crispey is absolutely right that the battery charger should be connected during the tuneECU process, but if the battery is old and losing it's integrity it could muck up the download.

Well it wasn't the battery causing the problem, fitted a new battery today making sure it was fully charged and leaving it on the battery tender, I connected upto the ecu and started to read the map but yet again it crashed around 80% complete.

It's a quality cable the Lonelec one, I've used mine several times with the Android version of Tuneecu. I am not familiar with The Bonnie and if the lights come on with the ignition. They do on my 955i Speed Triple, I remove both headlight fuses and keep it on a trickle charger to keep voltage up whilst uploading / downloading.

Thanks Shamus, yes the Bonneville is the same with regards to lights. The procedure you use is exactly what I've been doing also.
I'm not sure what to try next now and I really don't want to take my bike to the stealers.

I can't really offer much advice as I'm new to this too, the S3 is the first bike I've had were I can upload maps. I've maybe done it 2 or 3 times but without any issues. Could it be possible that something running in the background of your android device could be slowing transfer rates to in effect time out? I know when I have done it the transfer is pretty quick, about a minute and I do it on a cheap tablet.

If you are using a charger such as an Optimate, that could be your problem. If they see a rapid current draw, they can shut themselves off. Try a standard car battery charger, that should give a constant amperage, to suit the draw.

The last time I tryed I closed all running apps, shut down my virus software, I even shut down bluetooth, wireless and put the phone into airplane mode.
I'm running the app on a samsung S7 but the last time I tryed it has taken 2 hours to read 80% of the map on my ecu then crashed, Obviously something is not right as I thought the procedure would be much quicker.

Can't offer a solution I'm afraid but it doesn't take long to read a map, few minutes at the very most.

Have you tried a laptop, rather than a phone? When I was reading the maps on my T100 it would only take perhaps 2 mins-ish.

Borrowed the wifes laptop this afternoon, and after a couple of small issues I managed to read and save my ECU map, but better still the new map was uploaded onto my ECU without any trouble and the bike is running like a dream with no popping on deceleration ;-)

    Thanks for all your suggestions

Good to hear. After a lifetime of carb'd bikes this loading of maps is a revelation. No more spending half a day taking the bike apart to get the carbs out and change the jetting, etc.
