    Hello,

I am about to start the restoration of my late father-in-law‘s Trident triumph T160 I’m an absolute noob. I’ll take as many pictures along the way as possible and if I get a chance I’ll do some filming ( can’t promise that). Right now I need to do some basics. I need to have a look at the oil levels and I’d like to get a Jack. Can anybody recommend a type of oil and a suitable Jack? So I can work on the bike that would be amazing thanks

First thing to do is a bit of research:
Haynes manuals are ok for guidance - maintenance, oils, volumes etc - but aren't that great if a rebuild is in order.
Workshop manuals are still available along with parts catalogues, you'll need both.
A motorcycle lift is the way to go if you have the space.
To give you an idea you can't go far wrong watching Chris rebuild a T160 engine:

He has lots of videos available on his channel and they will give you an idea of where you could be going with yours.
Best of luck and keep us up to date with your photos as you progress.

@Flash Welcome to the family. What a project. I have had three 160's over the years and loved them. Do the rebuild in the projects and let us all follow your progress.

@Flash I used 20/50 silkolene for the engine and Duckham's 80/90 for the gearbox. But yes you should really start your own topic as hijacking someone else's does not get as much attention.

Yep, go buy some oil, fill it up, kick it over till it starts and go ride it around.
    You're welcome....anytime. Fuck this.
