These 2 are so much fun, jumble is my mates guide dog,his wife is also blind, her dog is yozi, amazing beasts. Both dogs have helped me enormously in training Flora, she's now a fabulous companion dog to me.we are on the hills every day, hail rain or snow.

Our pit, Meka, was roughhousing with my daughter's dog in the spring. She was hobbling around after, so we took her to the vet. She tore her right rear ACL. She had to wear a brace and was confined to a cage to keep her inactive. She couldn't go in the pool all summer and I know this drove her nuts. Anyhow she appeared to be just about back to her old self and was getting around pretty well. She wasn't limping at all, until the other day. Lori took her for a ride and when they got home Meka jumped out of Lori's SUV and yelped when she hit the ground. She reinjured her ACL and now we have to start all over again.
Here she is waiting for me to drop some leftovers the other night.

  4. This is our Milly. 5 years old, and still as mad as a box of frogs, she has bags of character.

This was a few years ago outside of Moab, Utah. It was summer, but we were camping in the cool weather up at around 11,000 ft elevation in an Aspen forest.

These are some of my neighbors "pets". She volunteers at a wildlife rescue organization and has adopted these three. She also has a gray goose named--wait for it--Martini! I don't have a photo of him though...yet. She also has three dogs and a cat. They all have their own living arrangements.

Fergus the desert tortoise. She said she puts the flower on him so he doesn't get lost to her eyes since he blends in with his surroundings.

And here's Steve's and my one non-human family member (although sometimes I think she thinks she's human).

Ellie the Boxer with one of her favorite toys, a hard plastic ball that has recorded silly noises and phrases that go off with movement. Ellie can entertain herself for an hour with this ball! She pushes it with her nose or bats it with a paw then chases it all over the house. :joy:

Hey, @Fork Lock, how is Meka doing? Is she all--or at least mostly--all healed up??

Ellie loved her Christmas! She pulled her two new toys out of her personal Christmas stocking when we weren't looking. :joy: Here she is hanging out with me on Christmas day after we opened our gifts. That's my new Stetson I'm wearing that Steve gave me for Christmas. :grinning::heart:

A new cat has arrived since I was last here (summer -24).
My last cat died 2 years ago (at the age of 15).

Meka is not doing great, but not terrible. She doesn't seem to be healing with rest and a brace. We considered surgery, but my youngest was a vet tech for years and she said the outcomes for this type of operation do not have a good success rate. So, Meka has pretty much adapted to her infirmity and walks with a skip, favoring the bad leg. But she seems happy and lively, so I don't think she's in a lot of pain. Just some discomfort, apparently. Don't know what to do.

Thanks for the update on Meka, @Fork Lock. Well, dang. I'm sorry to know that she's not doing great and now really healing up well. :( It's so difficult to know just what to do for our beloved pets when they face health challenges and often I've found myself wishing they could just talk to us to share their thoughts about the matter. But, like Meka, each of our boxers over the years has adapted when they've had physical issues and they've done it pretty darned cheerfully. A lesson for all of us. Please keep us posted on Meka.

20250104_110824.jpg Won't do any harm to add a couple of drops of cbd oil daily into the food.my vet agrees that this could help ,certainly do no harm.it works terrific with my arthritis, and I used it with great effect with my last labrador..Flora my flatcoat also gets it since she's very active and on the hills every day
