Im 54 years old and have been riding around on my Tbird 900 for a few years.
I just looked at what it would cost to insure me on a Sprint ST1050.
Is it really £600 a year to insure a mature experienced rider with a clean licence?
Im paying £200 for the Tbird.

    Not if you look around.
I pay less than £400 for a 765rs, 900 st and an MT 500 Armstrong on a multibike policy.

Have you tried Bikesure? Bikesure – Specialist Motorbike Insurance Since 1990

I'm 74, only been riding since 2018 and currently have 6 bikes on a multi bike policy. This year's premium was £442 including £86 worth of extras, e.g. leathers cover. That was remarkably £33 LESS than the previous year! They also gave me free legal expenses cover. I've found Bikesure very easy to deal with, no overseas call centre, they answer the 'phone very quickly, and remarkably good value.

From my recent experience of making a claim, that legal cover is important, specialist solicitors are only interested if you are claiming injury.

Also, try to find out if the company uses a claims agent.... that's a nightmare too!!

Insurance companies in-house claims departments can be a nightmare too. My car was hit by a van back in April 2023, and despite it clearly being the fault of the van driver the claim has still not been settled. My insurers' claims dept have dragged their feet, don't answer emails, and don't act on or pass on witness statements, so much so that I've twice complained to their customer relations dept and been awarded £600 in compensation, even though the claim has yet to be settled. At long last my insurers have instructed a legal firm to threaten court action against the van driver's insurers, hopefully that will do the trick and they'll settle out of court.

IMHO, the insurance industry is a minefield for consumers, tread with care!

I see thats where your going wrong.

OK......you need to try compare the market.com and Go Compare.

I have used those comparison sites for years age 72 less than £100 for a T100 Bonnie.

    Been riding only 7 years.

Don’t forget cashback. Go on all the comparison sites and you will probably find the same broker coming up with the same price time and again. Then go on the TopCashback website and you will more than likely find the same offer again, but this time you’ll get £26 cashback.

Confused dot com comparison site is quite good too, but compare what is included - passenger, legal cover, kit etc.

I go for basic fully comp cover.....I arrange recovery separately.

Never in all my years need to ring my insurance company or be recovered.

I needed recovery once, but used my AA membership. I didn't take legal cover in my current Bennetts fully comp policy, and it would have been better/easier to have it when I had an accident in September!

Specialist solicitors advertise to use them not your insurances solicitor, but didn't want to know because I was not claiming personal injury.

stu9000 - your premium is likely to be higher than the examples quoted by others as you live in Kingston -upon - Thames, a highly rated area.
The premium is also affected by so many other factors it is very difficult to compare like with like from other people.
