Tiger 800 Headlight Bulb Upgrade

Discussion in 'Tiger / Explorer' started by billyandmollysdad, Dec 14, 2024.

  1. One of my headlight bulbs blew today. I thought this would be a good opportunity to upgrade to some nice brighty whitey ones.
Any recommendations from those who've done it ?
I'm looking for simple plug and play options, as I'm a numpty when it comes to anything electrical.

Myself I would go for a led replacement. But whatever don't be tempted to go silly wattage as it tends to melt the lens.

Halfords do an H7 bulb that is said to be 200% brighter, i fitted these to my old 800 and although they were a only slightly brighter they gave a whiter light.
Be aware though that it is an upgrade you should tell your insurance about, seemingly a brighter light means you can go faster at night etc etc:rolleyes:
I really wouldn't bother with led conversions

I've fitted Cenmol H4 LED bulbs to 4 different bikes. Makes a huge difference riding at night, so much safer, and no problems passing MIOT.

I have done this on my Ducati. Nice and white light. BUT because the reflector is designed for a halogen bulb you will find the beam spread produced with a LED “bulb” is somewhat lacking and may give glare to oncoming motorists. However @NatM would appear to have found one he is happy with.

Best bulb I’ve found (and used) to date is the Ring Pro 5000K bulb from Halfords
    H4 & H7 versions available.
