and still on android, here is the imgur image copy-pasted using copy-image-paste-image:

    . . . nothing.

"copy image address" is not an option on my phone. when i click on an imgur image, the drop down menu displays only "copy image"

If you download Picasa ( the original is no longer around ) But you can still get a version of it. I have it, and it's dead easy to resize the pictures you load into it.

so i can use my phone to make an image directly appear only if the image is stored on my phone and i upload it directly from my phone to the forum.

that is my only image option when using my phone.

resizing doesnt appear to be an issue. the problem appears to be that the forum does not accept imgur jpg codes. i can link to the full size image and have it display. just not directly.

and the same images are displayed correctly without resizing everywhere on the net except here.

and im not really enthusiastic about having to use yet another software package to re-format, store, and manage a library of images just for this site.

here is a link to an early thread of mine, in which i had no difficulty doing what i cannot do now:

    https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/land-speed-racing-2023.37579/

here is the first image in that thread, displayed using an imgur link:

^^^this image from imgur displayed on this forum just fine in 2023. it displays just fine now using the same imgur code as i used then.

here is the identical image, displayed today from a new link to the same stored image in imgur:

since both images still display, it appears that the problem is something that changed in imgur, not in this forum, but that all other internet forums can accommodate.

. . .and here is the most recent image i have uploaded to imgur, using the imgur image link:

the upper image displays (i have added a space in both to de-activate the URLs so they can be read.)

the lower image does not display.

dunno what the difference is. imgur has changed something somewhere.

so my problem is how to display an image from imgur. i can present a link to an imgur image, but it appears that actually making the image display here directly is not possible.

yet the same images appear perfectly elsewhere. the problem is that imgur is currently not compatible with triumphforum, through an imgur change that triumphforum can not accommodate.

ah well. life is a bitch sometimes. i dont see a solution.

^^^a linked image. click on it to see a picture.

this appears to be what i have to do, unless i happen to be on my phone with an image that is also onmy phone.

    thank you all for listening.

    back to the thread.

Sorry if I've missed something, I'm no computer whizz and I don't know what IMGUR is (!) - assuming it is a photo library, why can't you right click and copy there, and right click and paste here?

I do that from all sorts of places - F/B, other forums, my computer etc.

    Just wondered! :p

    doesnt work, bud.

right clicking is not a mechanism that is universally available between websites. not anything you or i can do anything about.

I don’t trust any of these cloud thingies and bought myself a Synology NAS with two 4 Tb drives in a RAID formation. All of my data is stored on it, documents, photos, backups of iPhone, iPad, laptop and desktop. All accessible on my phone when out and about. All the Synology Apps are FoC and the photo App automatically backsup the photos from both iPad and iPhone to the NAS.

The whole point of having two drives in the NAS is that they mirror each other so if one goes down you just replace it with a new one which then rebuilds itself from the good one that’s still in the NAS. The drives are purpose built for this purpose to run 24/7/52, however I can also allow the drives sleep when not called on for a given period. As soon as I access it, it wakes up and the drives spin up.

One of the best bits of IT kit that I have plus moving over to the dark side from Windows was a game changer.

Thanks for this great info, @Baza. I would ask a favor… could you please name out the acronyms that you’ve used? I’m not all that IT savvy so it’s a bit cryptic to me. But I certainly am interested. I need a much better system than I currently have.

I'd go one better than that Sandi, could I have it in English, as I didn't understand a bloody word of it . :joy::joy:. I'm really not computer savvy one bit.

    Apologies
RAID = Redundant Array of Independat Disks - basically the way it stores your information across a group of disks.

NAS = network Attached Storage - a small file server that plugs into the back of my router. This will show you the model I have. https://global.download.synology.co...DS218j/enu/Synology_DS218j_Data_Sheet_enu.pdf Currently it has two 4 Tb drives in it which I will need to replace with larger drives in the not too distant future.

You can have a number of users logged onto it at the same time, all with different rights if necessary. And you can give a non user time limited passworded access to a specific file or directory if you wish. I have used this facility a number of times and find it really useful.

Synology’s tech support is first class and once you get into it, accessing it is just like looking at a flash drive you’ve plugged into your PC using Finder or File Manager, or whatever they call it these days.

Let me know if I’ve missed anything. Can’t recommend it too highly

Going one step further, one of my sons runs Plex on his NAS as a multimedia server which means I can watch TV shows or films that he has downloaded.

As well as selling brand new units they also sell refurbished ones if you want to save a few pennies.
