Just found and bought a 72 T100R. 12k miles, well maintained. Wiring harness may need some attention. What wrenches needed? History: Bought a 72 TR6 in Coventry July 1972, spent summer touring England and Ireland with new bride. Kept bike 5 years in states. Kids came -bike gone. Driving 2001 Vespa last 3 summers here on Cape Cod (Mass-USA). Time for the Triumph to return. Will spend winter getting bike in shape. My memory from summer of 72... Add pint of oil every day Check tappets every 3 days Align drive chain every 7 days Lucas-Lord of Darkness...coil shorting-fixed with inner tube laid over coil and under seat. Great ride, great sound, clean look even with oil Leo
Welcome to the forum. Some rose tinted memories here mefinks. Oil, now and again but definitely not every day, tappets will go months unless they are not done properly and chain, the alignment won’t change unless you haven’t done the axle nuts up tight enough but tension yes, especially if you have a QD rear wheel as the sprocket and brake drum are a one piece unit which will need replacing if you hook the teeth on the sprocket due to a slack chain.
you wont need Whitworth BS wrenches for almost all fasteners, although some didnt change. valve adjuster locknuts are will still be 3/16W, i think, also carburetter manifold nuts might fit better with a W wrench. i have a 72 T120, and there are SAE, BS, and metric fasteners all over it now, because of me. there are still some small 2BA threads: carbs, fork drains, sidecover access plate screws, ets. be aware of that and be careful with small screws.
