Thruxton Reserve Fuel - How Far Can You Go?

I have the 1200 thruxton r and so far running in the fuel light has been coming on at around 125 to 130 miles, with the computer showing around 40 miles to empty. I reckon the bike is doing circa 55 mpg running in. I would expect this to improve a little once I have fully run the bike in..

 

Pushed hard on the open road I got just a tad over 50 mpg. I would think sticking to the national speed limit would give 55 + mpg, must try it some day !

 

Fuel light came on at 105 miles filled up to brim 11.86 ltr. 37 mpg ouch! must be a bit heavy handed.

 

Rode out with the Fossil Riders today, started with 60 miles on from a full tank, did another 170 miles today, filled up and got 17.94ltres in at Sainsburys for £19.72.
58.2 mpg and we weren't hanging about. The Trophy has a 25 litre tank I recon and the red light was flickering on when braking downhill but not on the level road. Not too bad for a 900 cc bike with 64,000 + on the clock, I think this one is going to last as long as the first one that did 130,000 before I retired it.

 

I also have a Thruxton 900 EFi, 2013 model. The handbook I downloaded from the Triumph website indicates a tank capacity of 16 litres. However, I have also read in some places that it is 16.6 litres. Can anybody clarify this? Also, does anyone know at what level the fuel warning light is supposed to come on? I am finding it comes on at about 200km, give or take a bit, which would leave over 5 litres remaining in the tank. That is enough for about another 80-90 km of moderate riding.

 

My 2012 Thruxton 900 efi , I get around 100 to 120 miles of normal mixed riding before my fuel light comes on. That's when I usually fill up. I have a few mods but they shouldn't reduce my mpg by a 1/3. No idea what the capacity is, it's either full or needs filling.
