Hi all where's the best place in the north east to get my daytona 650 serviced? I've tried muddysump and he doesn't do the older bikes and I would prefer someone that knows triumphs rather than the local shop. Can anybody recommend anybody or anywhere. Thanks

A1 Moto in York seem to have a good name, although I prefer Team Roberts in Conisborough nr. Doncaster.
There used to be an excellent independent mechanic near to me but he has packed in to do other things. Hopefully this is not permanent.

I'm going to Team Roberts tomorrow for service and can report back on how I get on if you like. Is it a special service you're having done, any reason why you'd prefer someone that knows triumphs over a general service shop.

Not sure if its a special service or not. It's a 20,000 service and the bike has full history but only had the bike for 7 month's. The last service at 15.000 says intruim and c+s kit only (don't know what that means) So I had thought about getting it done properly as theres a oil leak from the cam cover (not a big job I know) but don't know if I'm just being abit anal as it runs fine ect.

How many of us use small independent garages for our services, especially the first 3 years of necessary servicing, or do you use the dealers.

Hi Stew is the bike still under warranty? I was just wondering why you don't do the service yourself? It's very straightforward and with a Triumph workshop manual it's like 'painting with numbers'.

You'll learn more about your bike and be able to take pride in a job well done. There are loads of peeps on here to help you.

To continue the service history I always keep the receipts for parts I buy and have a spreadsheet on the pooter to list what I've done.

Last time I was at Mo-Tech Motorcycles and Scooters based in Byker, I was talking to one on their mechanics. He used to work on Triumphs at the Triumph dealers in Newcastle (before they closed). So at least they have a mechanic with good knowledge of Triumphs working there.

Might be worth giving them a call and having a chat, maybe arranging to your bike in for a service when the Triumph guy is working………………

Well, a big thumbs up for the service at Team Roberts. In fact thumbs up for all the lads and lasses there actually. Friendly chat and a brew thrust into my hands as soon as I walked through the door. Even had a go on their demo speed r while the tech balanced the throttles on mine. I liked it but not enough to consider a swap.
Stew I reckon your last service was an "interim" service with a chain and sprocket kit fitted. It's a bit of a run from your gaff but I can recommend Team Roberts, I'll be going there again for my next service.

Cheers for the reply all.. I had thought about doing it myself and if it had been a basic service I might have tried, but when muddysump said he didn't have all the gear to do the service properly as he needed stuff for the fuel trim ect. (Don't even know what that is haha) I thought I best leave it for somebody that knows what there doing.
Scoot think I might do that and give mo tech a bell or call in sometime and have a word and get a price.
Yorkshireman glad you got good service at Team Roberts. Plus you get to play while they do your bike nice. I don't mind travelling to get good service so will definitely keep them in mind.:) Thanks again all.

Team Roberts do seem a friendly bunch whenever I've been there. The electronics part of the service is always a pain if your shop hasn't got the right gear. Basically I get my local bike shop to do oil changes, brake fluid changes, etc. and then I used Clive Wood in Swineshead to set the bike up. May use him for the 12000 miler on mine just so that he can check the EFi set up afterwards.

TR are very welcoming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful.:)
It's over 4 years since I was last therein, but I do believe that most of the staff that I knew are still there - always a good sign.
Does Phil Roberts still have a never ending supply of Hobnobs?:D

I still think your best bet is Clive Wood.
He does bikes from all over the country. and for good reasons! Clive used to run Jack Lilleys's race team when they ran TT600s (similar and D600s) so he very familiar with them. People can stay overnight when they travel a long distance.
    his contact is 07752 477738
