Bonneville Cutting Out When Trying To Rev Up Having Been Stuck In Traffic

My T120 seems to have developed a bit of a strange fault. This has happened twice now and in similar circumstances. I got held up in traffic having driven for about 20 miles or so then when I tried to move off from idle it died and backfired as soon as I tried to apply any throttle. It does restart and idle, but the same thing happens again, I've managed to get it going again after a couple of minutes but I have to hold revs on to stop it doing it again. Once it's been parked up (and I guess cooled off) it runs fine again.

I can't work out what it might be, other than that one issue the bike rides perfectly normally

 

Thanks for the reply, I'll dig into it a bit this weekend and see if anything looks amiss

 

@joe mc donald I've had a look at what you suggested - as far as I can see the rubber intake boots look intact. I've tested the air intake sensor and that seems to be ohming out bang in the middle of the range it should be.

Good idea though, and it would have been a cheap fix
