I'm sure those who might be interested know the thread to which l refer. I saw nothing especially contentious last time l checked in, yet it seems to have vanished. Not locked, gone....whilst l did not share the views largely expressed, unless something really nasty went on it today, l hope we aren't seeing a point of view being suppressed. Apologies if l'm speaking out of turn :)

If it was in the "Lounge" forum which is for "off topic and general banter" then I can't see why it's been removed. If it was because of a particularly offensive/libellous post then why not just remove that post? If a thread is posted in the correct sub forum but you don't like or agree with the subject then just don't post in it. Removing a whole thread just because some object to it's inclusion on an open forum is a dangerous precedent. JMO

One thread was removed as it was political. On request, as it had no conection to a bike Forum.

Political issues can get a bit heated so best not have this type of thread

I disagree, not because I'm interested in politics but because it is a valid conversation topic for some.
"No connection to a bike forum", so what does the " off topic and general banter" guidance in the Lounge apply to?
How about a new "Politicians on Bikes" thread.:p

@Havit I do agree with you. We are a motorcycle Forum and i for one read most of the posts. I agree with 900/0 and the ones i don't i just move on. This is a great Forum that you saved the last time and so many of us are so grateful to you as the people here are helpful friendly and support each other. I i ever want to spout out about politics then i will rant on Facebook or some political forum which i don't think will happen any time soon. No mate you have my support keep up the great work.

I can see both sides of the argument here. It is interesting to be able to have grown up discussions on subjects other than bikes on this forum. As Pegscraper pointed out, isn't that what the Lounge section is for? There are often topics raised there that having nothing to do with bikes, which is fine.

However, as we have seen in the past, there are some subjects which for reasons I don't understand, some people seem unable to talk about without resorting to abuse and personal attack. Most of us do not want that here (again). As Joe says, if someone enjoys that type of 'entertainment' then there are places where they can vent their feelings in an aggressive way. This forum is a pleasant place to be and if it means avoiding a few topics to keep it that way then I'm happy with that.

@beerkat Yes agree with you totally here. The Lounge is great for those who want to vent a little steam in a civil manner. And the forum stays free for those of us who want to talk bike and related subjects. It is thanks to @Wayne a nice friendly warm place again where we talk and agree or disagree in a friendly way. Hope it stays that way. I Remember when it all went sour and did not like that.

I assume (guess) this thread refers to my thread offering congratulations to President Trump?
I knew that some people would agree & some would also disagree.
However I was surprised & saddened to see it removed.
Having said that, it seems to be the way of the world these days.
There was a time when adults (especially tough bikers) could agree to disagree. And simply ignore something they didn't like.
Unfortunately nowadays, certain elements of society simply cannot deal with alternative opinions. If they don't like something, IT HAS TO GO!
Ironically, those people also invariably like to brag about how tolerant they are :joy:

Anyway, I'm not asking for it to be reinstated. Despite the overwhelming positive ratings it received :p

As said we had it a few years ago and it almost finished the forum. Wayne saved the forum and it went back to a friendly biker forum. There are other forums out there who can listen to politics and argue as much as you want. But i like this being a biker only forum. Of course if other topics are put in the proper place then great we can just ignore them

You are entirely correct. Narrowing the remit of the forum on the sayso of a few individuals is unhealthy in my book. Sorry Wayne, can't agree with you on this one. If we don't like or agree with something we only need to exercise our choice and not respond, or ignore altogether.

One reaction in particular initially made me laugh. Until I realised that the guy was deadly serious! o_O
I think it was @learningtofly (but please forgive me if it wasn't?)
Who said something along the lines of 'If this continues, I'll leave the forum!'
At that point all that had been said was my original congratulations post, a handful of people agreeing. And one guy requesting that we didn't speak about the 'Orange Jesus'
I still can't help thinking the threat to leave the forum is a ridiculous overreaction.
But I put it down to that 'Section of society' that I mentioned earlier.

@learningtofly Is a valuable member and a nice person by all accounts. I think he was talking about the last time it happened here it was a mess. As I said this section is for bikes and bikers. I don't give a toss who is winning any election. Show me his Harley.

Go on then Joe, please enlighten me buddy.
Yourself & others have made reference to something terrible that happened in the past. What was it exactly?
Surely not just differing opinions FFS?!? :joy:

From my respective, after what the forum went through , I'm very reluctant to allow threads that can get heated be allowed to feaster. This is a Triumph forum not a political soap box. I'm more than happy to have threads that are "off subject" , but politics can (as found in the passed) can go off rails very quickly. So I'm not willing to let this happen again. Sorry if you disagree. But my decision is on passed experience. Please feel free to discuss if you feel the need.

@Havit with you Wayne This is again a nice friendly forum. The people here are the tops and give so much support to each other and those seeking help. Not to mention some of the fantastic ride reports. Keep it up mate.

Yeah, like a lot of other forums I use, no politics and no religion. Just my opinion, nothing more than that.

On another forum I use the rules are very clear about what is and isn't acceptable content, usually relating to the hot topics of sex, religion and politics!

One rule is particularly interesting, and goes something like this - "When there are opposing viewpoints and discussions have been exhausted, do not attempt to have the last word....."

Anyway, have you seen our Labour government's latest disastrous decision..... only joking! Or, maybe not...!! ;)
