Yeah, the guy I talked to today spent more to raise his handlebar than I have on some bikes. Some people's wallets are better endowed than their brain.
So he's ended up with a 1200RS with electronic Ohlins!! The bike a lot of people would like (but not the cost)
Exactly what he ended up with. He even said that he wanted an RS with electronic suspension. Nice looking fairing and headlamp though, but looks a little out of place with the handlebar instead of clip-ons. I should have taken a picture.
I am surprised Triumph don't do an RS with electronic suspension. It seems that is what most would prefer.
Yeah, even my old 2006 BMW had electronic suspension, but I don't prefer it, and sold it as soon as I got a Speed Triple. With the various modes and suspension settings at the push of a button you kinda have a different bike every time, which I'm not sure I like. I rented a bike in Europe a few months ago with the various modes and didn't care for it much. From 45 years of riding when conditions change my brain changes the way I ride the bike - maybe I'm old-fashioned and don't see the advantage. The only "rider aid" on my 2012 is ABS. I suppose however, that "rider aids" are becoming more essential on bikes approaching 200 hp. I test rode a Panigale when they first came out on a very twisty mountain road and noticed that it refused to power slide out of the corners like my old Ducati, and seemed to lose power. The dealer told me that traction control was the culprit. I guess It's needed when these bikes are sold to anyone with the money regardless of experience.
We saw a RR with the electronic Ohlins at the factory on Saturday evening. So you shouldn’t be waiting long. And on the Striple? now that would be a temptation to swop mine in.
Cycle World says the Panigale all topped up with fuel is 436 lbs, I wouldn't call that a lot lighter...maybe four pounds?
Ah but what you mention is a standard Panigale, my son's Panigale, has a full Akro Titanium exhaust fitted new by Ducati at a cost of 4.5K, it has full carbon lower fairings again fitted from new, it also has numerous other weight saving mods and carbon fibre, it has magnesium wheels as well, different sprockets and chain, Translogic Quickshifter, all the mods add up to a massive weight saving, the engine was re mapped at the same time, it is putting out 220 BHP on the dyno, topping out at just shy of 200mph, it is now significantly lighter, the complete package came in at an eyewatering price, however he is a single person with his own home and no Mortgage, he can indulge himself, although personally I would not spend as much as he did on a single bike. My own STRS is also significantly lighter than a standard machine, and have upgraded an awful lot on the machine, there are some photos on the forum of both the Panigale and STRS, hope this explains the comment re the weight saving. Ride safe all from an ageing Rocker.

Did you fit the ABM Clip-Ons yourself? Do you have to drop the forks out of the top yoke? Do you have the Sport or Touring version? Any clash with the fairing? Did the brakes bleed ok when you fitted the extension hose?
Higher clip ons. Game changer. I did 1400 miles from Worcestershire to Troyes in France over five days. Compared to when I picked up the bike and I could only manage 50miles max due to the discomfort.
Thanks for the response. I would love to see some more photos. I’m very interested in making the swap from a Speed RS 1050 to an RR . Do you find the 1200 RR engine “ revvy” ? The 1050 RS has the perfect engine and I hope that the 1200 hasn’t lost the torque in the search for HP.

I see. Strange, as I went on the ABM website there is only the touring version. This is the one I have . Odd, as higher and lower the touring version. Heyho. I'd recommend them.
Was it a fairly easy swap over from standard bars to the new adjustable ones? Didn't have to lengthen or re-route anything? Looking to get some Gilles adjustable clip ons. Looking forward to your comfort report after your trip
Personally. I don't like the engine. I find it a bit boring. It's obviously makes power. But it's just at a higher number. In France the bike felt in its element, as you were using the torque at the higher speeds. In the UK, the engine doesn't make a lot of sense and it's not that characterful (whatever that means). Compared to the Thruxton RS, that - you rode the torque at lower speeds, it felt amazing. It's not not that the bike is revy. Just the performance is out of reach of the UK. In my opinion. Difficult for me, as I really don't like the RR.
I know what you mean, I also have a Tuono V4 1100 and its too much on the road to get satisfaction from riding it. I've had both for just over 2 years & often think I'd be better with a 765RS & Tiger 900. Have you thought about converting the RR to an RS?
