How do you clean your helmet interior, do you remove the cheekpads etc., or can you get a spray you just spray on and leave without taking it all apart? I've got an Arai Rapide and the instructions are pretty hopeless for removing the interior, tried watching a few YouTube videos but can't find any for the Rapide.

    Cheers

I have same issue with my Arai - looks like the cheek padding is removable per an online brochure I found but that's it. Mine is an Axcess-3. The brochure does say all Arai interiors, removable or not, can be cleaned in place with mild detergent and a clean water rinse.

I remove all that is removeable from inside the helmet and hand wash in warm water / delicate wash then replace after completely dry. Do this once a year for my Shoei helmet.

My Arai and Shoei have removeable liners. They use poppers to hold the liner's in.

I did it in the past in two ways.
The "long" one: I deassambled the inner parts of the helmet, washed them in warm water and removed them after they are complete dry again, like @TRIPLE X did it.
The "short" one: I used a cleaning spray for the inner parts of the helmet.
To reduce the wear and soiling I am always riding with a small cap, also in summer. ;)

Thanks for the replies. The skull lining is straiughtforward, it's the cheek pads that have about 3 vague lines of instructions. What's the worst that can happen!

Exactly. Also think about buying a complete set of the interior because they discontinue those pretty quickly and having a new set can extend the useful life of your helmet.
