Hi every one and thanks for letting me into the forum. As requested, my ride is the following: Mint 2016 Street Twin in Silver 16k miles. Had it a couple of months after a couple of Speed Triples, ZX900RE2, 955i and many 8v big Kwackers back in the dark ages. Stage 1 Cam (already installed at purchase of bike). DNA filter, no snorkel. US Vance and Hines, no baffles (already installed at purchase of bike) Free Spirits decat (already installed at purchase of bike) Street Cup 2820 Hagons (+10mm Over the Standard Street Twin) 8.5n/mm linear front springs. To arrive next week: 3 Pot Nissen front caliper. Street Cup (EBC) floating front disc. HH ebc pads. Future? A rev counter!!!!
@ST Rat Welcome to the family. Seems you are not hanging around on your Street Twin. Bet it sounds pretty nice. Are you planning track days on it. Whatever do hit the upload a file button bottom right and show it of to the inmates.
Good idea. I'm fitting the new front disc and caliper next week and I'll put some pic up then. No track days but I do like to tinker and I'm retired so I have the time. At one time I was a (bad) mechanical engineer and that doesn't help either! I think thenreason why I have taken the bike down its path is from my past biking. I raced when very young (Rickman Kawasaki Z1000) but I was crap. Then drag raced a GPz1100 (1170) in my 20's - and again crap at it. After 40 years of having wrist ache, back ache and many injuries I recently bought the ST as my 'scale down' after my 'altered' 955i was nicked a couple of months ago. Wife was happy but I was shocked when I started to ride it. At 54bhp my once a fortnight 100mile ride to vist my old Mum was not pleasant. Blatting around my country roads near me however was a blast!! In town the ST is great! First big twin i have ever owned was also a revelation as was the sound. And, of course it looks great. So, my mission was to make a bike which suited me and the ST has so much potential. Now, she is a great alrounder. I just need to see if I can improve the braking slightly - shed speed a little quicker - and she will be done and still look beautiful. Should I have bought a 1200 or a Thruston? I see the arguement but they are heavier and more expensive and, in my humble opinion are not so pretty. Also, if I had bought one.....I would have done exactly the same to it as I have the ST!! It works for me.
....before the Dart screen and mirror extenders as well. Bench seat works better for my 32 inch inside leg.
Floating disc comes this afternoon, brake fluid and pads tomorrow. Just need to finish upgrading the bathroom today/tomorrow (good marital relations are a must for motorcycle ownership I find!). Looks like a couple of days of less wet weather coming so should have it done by Friday. I have a 200 mile run coming up next week, that should bed it all down. BTW, the glossy patches on the caliper are fresh matt hamerite touch ups.
This was this morning after adjusting the chain for my 200 mile trip on Thursday. No brakes yet as I have reconsidered my master cylinder size and awaiting 12.7mm master cylinder (see street twin brakes).
Street Cup spec suspension. Longer shocks, 8.5 n/mm linear front fork springs with standard fork oil.
