Hi everyone! I recently completed riding about 150,000 kilometers on my bikes overall over the past 15 years! Bike history 1 - Bajaj Pulsar 220 (2011 - till present) 2 - Bajaj Pulsar Rs 200 (2017 - sold for Dominar) 3 - Bajaj Dominar 400 (2018 - Till present) Finally want a good powerful street bike and the Triumph Tripple RS made it to the final list along with the Kawasaki z900! Im mostly finalizing getting the triumph due to longer service intervals, better build quality and way way waaay lesser weight!! my main worry about the Tripple RS is the fuel and the octane requirements. Currently as per what i read the bike needs 91 octane fuel and thats not really available in most places in Goa,India.. How bad would it be if i run the bike on 78 octane fuel with 15% ethanol in longterm usability.. Mechanical folks, technically focused would be in a better state to respond to my question Wonder to be a part of the triump community and hopefully ill own it soon
Sorry thats a typo, its 87 octane fuel here. I tried to edit post but it saying something about being spam... dono why
Hi and welcome, I would suggest you drop Triumph technical support at the factory for the answer to your question.
I have a 2000 trophy 1200 that calls for unleaded 95 RON. US Pump regular is 87 ((R+M)/2) = about 92 RON. MY bike runs fine on it.FYI, US fuel has up to 10% alchol. . Learn to know what preignition (knock) sounds like, and by fule the that does not knock.
@Razzer Welcome to the family Just use what you can. We all hate the ethanol in petrol but no choice. There are boosters and additives available to help.
